Hospůdka U Štěpána

Restaurant U Štěpána is well-known by fans of the popular gourmet television series, “Ano,šéfe.” It’s one of the few restaurants that received a positive rating fromcelebrity chef Zdeněk Pohlreich. According to the owners, Mr. and Mrs. Ruda,participating in the show helped put their restaurant on the map and on theroad to gastronomical success. 


 

HOW DO THINGS RUN THERE

The restaurant has reached such a level of successthat you have to book a tablegive or takethree weeks in advance. Even on a weekday, it is not guaranteed that you can get a table without planning ahead. Thisstylish, cozy place holds 58 seats and includes a separate dining room. In thewinter months the glassed in terrace (42 seats) provides a breathtaking view ofthe snow-covered countryside and during the summer you will be submerged in thebeauty of the Šumava forest.


WHAT CANYOU TRY THERE

A favorite restaurant specialty is the Charolais beef steak (light colored beef). The cattle are raised on their own bio farm in nearby Vojetice and on other likeminded farms in Šumava. The owner lovingly calls his cattle “Naše šarolky”, which means “Our little Charolais”. Annín trout farm provides fresh fish from the neighborhood, while ripe vegetables travel to your plate directly from the family garden.
